For them: the blazer!

On my last post I said that the blazer was a key piece and that’s exactly why I came back here to talk more about it, since I really believe it to be a fundamental item on every closet. I say it’s a key piece because you can wear it to work, to a party or on the weekend… It is so practical! We are used to jackets and coats but the cool thing about the blazer is that it gives an elegant air besides making the silhouette more slender (makes you look thinner! Lol!) Even the t-shirt and jeans duo gets less boring: just put over a blazer to add some style and charm to a basic look. Besides being a safe investment, since a good piece may last years in your closet.

You might be thinking: but what about the heat? Today you can find on stores many cotton or linen pieces, many of them without an inner lining, which means, it won’t be as warm as the suit jacket you might be already used to. Besides, to change a weekend look (in other words, informal, you can’t go to work like this!) it’s great to wear it with shorts as well (long shorts, not exercise ones!). Combine it preferably to shoes or sneakers without socks, it looks good.

When in doubt, chose a one or two buttons blazer, with an adjusted fit to your body. But remember if you want to button it, do so only with the first button, never the lower one! The ones with double buttons are a trend, but harder to wear and you must have your body on good shape so that they fit well… Nice materials for you to look for: I recommend a corduroy one, very classic, for the winter time and cotton for the summer. It’s common to see in stores very colorful pieces, but if you’re getting only one, invest on a more classical and neutral color, like black, gray, caramel or navy blue. They go with everything.

Do you already have yours but always arrive to your destination on a trip it all creased and wrinkled? Learn how to fold it when packing:

1 – fold one of the sides, turning it as if inside-out, with the sleeve inside (without turning the sleeve inside-out)
2 – do the same to the other side. It will be as IF on the inside-out, with the sleeves inside. Make sure they are stretched out
3 – fold it on half lengthwise
4 – fold it on half and straighten it out.

Now there’s no excuse not to wear it!

Everybody agrees that a nice package makes us want to buy a product even more, right? At least, I’m like that, lol! I can’t see a cute container that I already want to know what it’s all about and to find an excuse to get it!

MAC has launched this week, here in Brazil, the Art of Powders collection, which is inspired by modern art. The result is three absolutely beautiful products, that we go crazy to get but feel sad to use, lol!

Each has its function: the more far-fetched one is Street Art Eyeshadow, which brings seven shades of eye shadow that may be used separately or mixed. The colors are very suave and it has a shiny finish to it. When you mix it all, it looks kind of pinkish, very pretty to light up the corners of the eyes, you know?

My favorite one is Optical Bronzer, which simplifies in one little container something that I do every day while applying blush: I always dip the brush first on a blush and then on a bronzer, you know? And since Optical has blush and bronzer stripes (and it’s the one I like the most as well!), it solves my problem at once.

And the last one from the collection is the In the Abstract Highlighter, which is a very light illuminator! It also mixes pink and golden hues, but is more faded than the Optical Bronzer.
Each one costs R$187 and the collection is available only at some MAC stores: Shopping Iguatemi (SP); Park Shopping (DF); Ipanema (RJ); Fashion Mall (RJ); Oscar Freire (SP); Shopping Mueller (PR), Pátio Savassi (MG) and online, at Sacks. Is it already on you Christmas wish list, yes or definitely?

Even though I don’t live in Stockholm, I have spent a lot of time there and I love to visit the Swedish capital, which is a beautiful city and very worth of knowing. To me, Stockholm is a great mix between old and modern, with great restaurants, stores, parks and museums.

Places to visit:

Gamla Stan: The old neighborhood from Stockholm is one of the city’s great touristic spots and really is worth visiting! Gorgeous architecture, with narrow streets, coffee shops and great restaurants and also where you can find the Swedish royal family’s castle.
Vasa Museum: It’s a museum created around a ship that sank in 1628 and was removed from the sea over 300 years later. The ship is beautiful!
Skansen: The world’s largest outdoors museum. It’s a combination of a museum, zoo, park, everything at once. A beautiful place to take a walk.
Stockholm’s City Hall (Stadshuset): One of the prettiest buildings in Stockholm, where the famous Nobel Prize dinners take place. The tour of the building can only be taken with a guide, which is very good, since the story of the city hall really is very interesting, I’ve taken it 3 times already!
Kungsträdgård (translation = the king’s garden): If you go in the winter it’s a skating ring in the middle of the city, great to have fun in the cold weather!
Stockholm’s Opera House: a wonderful building and if you like ballet, musicals or opera, I recommend attending at least one show.
Carl Milles Museum: Carl is a Swedish sculptor and his garden is now an exposition of copper art pieces, amazing!!!

Where to eat:

To be honest, I don’t know many restaurants in Stockholm, since I used to eat at a friend’s place over there, lol! Anyway, here are some tips:
Sten Sture: It’s a restaurant/coffee shop in Gamla Stan, which used to be a prison. The place is super different, like a dungeon, but very cozy! And the soups are amazing!
Stash: it’s an Italian diner in Gallerian, a mall in Stockholm. The sandwiches are simply delicious, for very reasonable prices and great for a stop between one purchase and another!
If you have some extra Money and want to visit a more sophisticated place to eat well, I can also recommend the restaurant at the “basement” of Stockholm’s Opera House. The place is beautiful; it’s worth visiting if only for a cappuccino.

Shopping!

Gallerian: Stockholm’s mall with several stores and all ranges of prices.
H&M: I think most know that H&M is a Swedish store, right? Well, now you know! Lol. It’s a brand with low prices, but that is always up to date, loved by celebrities and regular people! And H&M’s biggest store is, of course, downtown Stockholm!
NK: Is a fancier mall that sells famous brands like Louis Vitton, Chanel, Miu Miu, among many others, so the price is different. NK is very famous for its Christmas windows. Each year there’s a different theme, with music, moving dolls, lots of color, it’s beautiful! Even if you can’t get anything, it’s worth the visit as well.
Götgatan: (gata means street in Swedish) It’s a very commercial street, with many stores, restaurants and pubs.

All it took was posting here about the lipsticks created by bloggers that I stumbled upon a website that almost lets you do the same! The Homemade Company sells many DIY kits (Do it Yourself, an English expression), and among them there’s one that allows you to create your very own lip balms!

Alright, so it’s for kids, lol, but I thought it was such a cool Idea! Wanting or not we always have something we’d like to change on our favorite lipstick colors (and nail polishes too, right), and only creating them from scratch would we get “our” colors. I wish I was a kid so I could play with this kit!

And it seems like it’s simple: in the kits you get bee wax, cocoa butter, organic essential oil (to give it a nice smell!) and pigments. If it weren’t for the pigments, you could even try to do it at your home without a kit! It’s not expensive (there are several options, starting at 11.95 pounds), and besides the ingredients to make the balm it also comes with little containers and labels, so you can name your shade. It’s for sale online, but I couldn’t find out if they deliver it here… If it arrives, it’s a great option of gift for your friend’s daughter who loves cosmetics, isn’t it?
